The Reverend Larry Jent was born in Illinois, but his family never lost their roots from the mountains of North Carolina and Virginia. He earned undergraduate degrees at Southern Illinois University with specializations in Business Communications, Philosophy and Classical Studies. He earned his Master of Divinity from Duke University. He has served as a Pastor in Illinois, North Carolina, Alaska and Virginia.
Pastor Larry and his wife, Barbara, have a blended family of five grown children and nine grandchildren. Barbara comes from Buckhannon, West Virginia. Her ancestors founded the first Virginia settlement west of the Alleghenies in 1764, and she's the first of her family to wander from West Virginia. She is deeply committed to a life of 100-to-1 faith.
As a person of Cherokee and Sac-Fox heritage, Pastor Larry has always been active in Native American ministries. Native insights, along with his Appalachian sense of humor, shape his ministry in powerful ways. An accomplished musician and storyteller, Pastor Larry has performed in folk venues throughout the southeast. He enjoys playing Appalachian, Native American and Celtic root music...and has won prestigious liar's competitions! An avid outdoorsman, Pastor Larry enjoys hunting, fishing and hiking. He never met a motorcycle he did not like.
Pastor Larry finds his greatest joy in telling the gospel--the greatest story every told!
